Tarn Hows and Scout Scar
We took a trip up to the Lake District on Saturday and did two walks, Tarn Hows and Scout Scar. Details of the walks can be found here - http://www.lakedistrict.gov.uk/index/visiting/outdoors/mileswithoutstiles/
Tarn Hows was quite quiet when we arrived at around 11am but when we got back two hours later it was bedlam in the car park and people were waiting for us to leave to take our parking spot.
If you're not a member of the NT the parking was £4 for two hours which I thought was a bit steep but there was a well kept, clean toilet block with a small visitors centre too.
There was a NT guy there in the car park with his Land Rover and leaflets.
Two hours is plenty time to walk the well kept paths of the circular walk around the tarn, we took time to go to the waters edge, look at flowers and climb a tree.
There was a ice cream van in the car park when we got back :)
All in all, well worth a visit on a nice day!
Scout Scar was also a great walk, it's quite near Kendal and has fantastic views from the top. Watch out for big cow pats with mushrooms in them...
